WHITEHORSE—Norcope Construction Group of Whitehorse was awarded a contract to install a new water main supply line for the Whistle Bend Subdivision on Range Road.
“A significant portion of construction will be underway this spring and summer and the area will be busy with activity,” Minster of Community Services Archie Lang said. “Whistle Bend will bring nearly 295 new building lots to the market in 2012 and we are on target. Together with the City of Whitehorse, Yukon government is making more land available.”
Norcope Construction Group qualified with the low bid coming in at $2.829 million.
When complete the subdivision will provide for as many as 3,900 homes for upwards of 8,000 residents. Whistle Bend stages one and two are designed to accommodate 194 single family lots, 48 townhouse lots, 34 duplex lots and 17 multiple family lots. The design also includes a school site, one community-use lot and three parks.
