Department accepts recommendations from Auditor General

WHITEHORSE—The recommendations in a report released by Auditor General Sheila Fraser on the Department of Health and Social Services have been accepted by Minister Glenn Hart.

“The Auditor General’s team spent many months examining in detail two of the department’s many responsibilities—the alcohol and drug services, and diabetes programs,” Hart said. “We accept her recommendations in the spirit in which they were intended.”

The report will be tabled in the legislative assembly today during the Auditor General's visit to Whitehorse.

“It is stated in the Yukon Act that the Auditor General may review other matters,” Hart added. “This is our fifth audit and report. The audits are critical in ensuring government can continue to improve and enhance services to Yukoners.”
