Agriculture conference and banquet offers food for thought north of 60°

WHITEHORSE – Yukon farmers will be gathering to listen to industry professionals and share ideas at this year’s North of 60° Agriculture Conference and Banquet November 5 and 6.

The North of 60° Agriculture Conference is a great opportunity for producers, experts and the public to get together and share information to contribute to Yukon’s growing agriculture sector,” Energy Mines and Resources Minister Patrick Rouble said.

Hosted by the Agriculture branch, the annual conference is a forum for Yukon producers and others interested in agriculture. This year’s program features a roundtable on the challenges and opportunities facing new farmers, presentations on poultry and horse nutrition, past successes and emerging opportunities in Alaska, and using a farm business assessment to examine growth potential.

Saturday evening’s “Yukon grown” banquet is an opportunity to sample the delicious and diverse flavours of local agriculture. This year’s Farmer / Farm Family of the Year award will be announced at the banquet and there will be a presentation by the delegation that attended the Circumpolar Agriculture Conference in Alta, Norway this past September.

The conference is being held at the Westmark Hotel and Conference Centre. For more information including the complete conference agenda and information on purchasing banquet tickets, visit or call 867-667-5838, toll free in Yukon at 1-800-661-0408, extension 5838.
