Fall legislative sitting to start September 21

WHITEHORSE – Premier Dennis Fentie announced today that the speaker will reconvene the Yukon Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, September 21.

“We have completed our preparation for the fall sitting and look forward to debate and discussion on legislation and other important matters to Yukoners,” Fentie said.

The earlier sitting means that the traditional community tour will not happen this fall.

“We are notifying municipalities and First Nations governments of the early sitting and extending an invitation to meet,” Fentie added. “We encourage Yukoners to continue to communicate with us regarding issues and opportunities in their communities. I am always interested in hearing the views of Yukoners and also urge citizens to participate in government consultations currently underway.”

The public is invited to attend the opening of the fall sitting starting at 1 p.m.
