Yukon Workers’ Compensation Health and Safety Board chair to resign

WHITEHORSE – Minister responsible for the Yukon Workers’ Compensation Health and Safety Board (YWCHSB) Glenn Hart announced today that Craig Tuton will resign from his position as board chair, once a replacement is found.

“Mr. Tuton has provided exemplary service to Yukon workers and employers for the past seven years and has agreed to remain as chair until a replacement can be found,” Hart said. “We are grateful for his years of dedicated service to the employers and workers of Yukon.”

The minister will consult with employer and worker organizations about a new chair for the YWCHSB Board of Directors.

“It has been a privilege to work with dedicated board members and staff and with stakeholder partners. I value the time I’ve served as chair,” Tuton said.

The board’s recently released 2009 annual report showed improved results in workplace health and safety, which have led to a 15.6 per cent drop in the 2011 average assessment rates.
