Geoscience Forum Highlights Yukon Opportunities

WHITEHORSE – Opportunities in Yukon’s mineral sector will be highlighted at the 37th annual Geoscience Forum and Mining Trade Show being held November 22 to 25 in Whitehorse. Hosted by the Yukon Chamber of Mines with support from the Yukon government, the event showcases Yukon’s mineral industry and provides updates on Yukon’s geological research.

“This year’s impressive attendance numbers show the excitement surrounding Yukon’s mining industry,” Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources Archie Lang said. “We are pleased to be hosting this important event again this year and look forward to sharing our geosciences data and the tools available as well as presenting the vast opportunities in Yukon for investors.”

The recently launched web portal will be featured at this year’s forum. Developed with funding from the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency, the web portal provides a comprehensive site for Yukon information ranging from geological data on mineral deposits to regulatory approval processes.

“The annual Geoscience Forum and Mining Trade Show provide an important venue to highlight the opportunities within Yukon’s diverse mineral sector,” Yukon Chamber of Mines president Carl Schulze said. “With a wide range of attendees from Yukon’s service and professional sectors to the junior and senior mining industries and the investment community, the forum has become an important gathering for Yukon’s mineral industry.”

Among the many talks and presentations, this year’s forum includes a number of presentations and updates on the intense activity within the Dawson gold range. Yukon Geological Survey staff will present results from mapping and research projects from across Yukon.

Admission to the trade show is free and the public is encouraged to attend. For more information or to register as a delegate, contact the Yukon Chamber of Mines or visit
