Yukon Confirms Strong Ties with Alaskan Business Community

WHITEHORSE –Yukon’s Department of Economic Development and the Yukon Chamber of Commerce are in Homer, Alaska attending a conference and trade show entitled Riding the Wave: Setting a Course for the Next 50 Years. The event runs from September 21 to 23.

“I’m pleased to see our department joining our neighbors in this sort of relationship-building event,” Economic Development Minister Jim Kenyon said. “The Alaskan market offers many excellent opportunities for Yukon businesses.”

Representatives from the Department of Economic Development’s Business and Industry Development branch are attending the event to promote Yukon opportunities and Yukon businesses.

The Yukon Chamber of Commerce is attending the conference on behalf of the many Yukon businesses interested in expanding into the Alaskan market.

“We are happy to be at this conference, reiterating our commitment to a strong and healthy relationship between Yukon and Alaska,” Yukon Chamber of Commerce chair Jerome Babyn said. “Expanding Yukon businesses to Alaska is a natural fit, considering our geographic locations and shared climate.”

The annual conference and trade show brings together exhibitors from across Alaska and participants from Alaska, Canada and western North America.
