Substance Abuse Resource Directory Released
WHITEHORSE – The Yukon government is releasing a resource directory that lists service providers in the area of substance abuse and provides tips and links to other resources.
“This is one of the action items that came out of the Yukon Substance Abuse Action Plan summit in 2005,” Justice Minister Marian C. Horne said. “Educating Yukoners about the services available to them in the area of substance abuse is a priority for this government.”
The resource directory is designed to educate people, including service providers, about the services available throughout Yukon that include help and support for those affected by substance abuse.
The directory is a free, easy-to-use listing and will be available at many locations including medical service offices, schools, community organizations, First Nations government offices and some public gathering places.
The directory is also available online for download from the departments of Justice, Health and Social Services, and the Youth Directorate websites.
“It’s important that Yukoners, including service providers, are aware of the services available throughout the territory. Educating people continues to be an important aspect of addressing substance abuse in Yukon,” Horne added.
