WHITEHORSE – Highways and Public Works Minister Archie Lang announced $3.5 million will be allocated, pending legislative approval, to pave Front Street in the City of Dawson.
“The Highways and Public Works department maintains an extensive transportation system to support safe and efficient movement of people and goods territory-wide. This includes Front Street in Dawson City as part of the Klondike Highway,” Lang said.
The scope of work includes compacting and re-grading the existing road base to improve drainage. Construction will include a new hot-mix asphalt pavement surface and a light coloured surface treatment from the ferry landing to Crocus Bluff.
“Dawson City is a destination of choice for our visitors. I made a commitment to improve Front Street which will enrich the level of service for visitors and citizens. I am pleased that this project is going forward this spring,” MLA Steve Nordick said.
