WHITEHORSE - The Teslin Community Library will relocate to the former Nisutlin Trading Post building early this April, as announced by Community Services Minister Archie Lang and Pelly-Nisutlin MLA Marian C. Horne while in the community for meetings.
“Working with the Teslin Library Board, we’re pleased to provide the people of Teslin with full access to library services,” Lang said.
The former Nisutlin Trading Post is an attractive option due to its central location and layout. This new location has been confirmed with a three-year lease term. The Teslin branch of the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Board (YESAB) is already a tenant in the building.
“I am pleased that library services will be available once again to Teslin residents,” Horne said. “I would also like to acknowledge the diligent work of Community Services’ Public Libraries branch and Highways and Public Works’ Property Management division in resolving this situation and finding an appropriate location for the library.”
“Library services are very important to the people of Teslin,” Wes Wirth, chair of the Teslin Community Library board said. “We are pleased that library services have been restored in a safe and comfortable environment and acknowledge Yukon government's effort in that regard.”
