Atlin Road Reconstruction Funding
WHITEHORSE – Highways and Public Works Minister Archie Lang announced today that $2.9 million will be allocated for reconstruction on the Atlin Road, subject to legislative approval.
“I am pleased that this project will generate employment in the territory this summer, while at the same time contributing to the economy,” Lang said. “This investment demonstrates our commitment to upgrading road infrastructure in the territory.”
This funding will cover the costs of reconstructing kilometer 6 to 12 of the Atlin Road with bituminous surface treatment (BST).
Clearing of the area will begin soon and is expected to be completed this April. Reconstruction will commence later this spring and the new BST surface is scheduled for completion in fall 2010.
