Tax Relief

 

Home Heating and Motor Propane Fuel Tax Exemption
There are no Yukon taxes applied to home heating fuels or motor propane.


Lowest Tax Rate for Motor Fuel in Canada
The Yukon currently has the lowest motor fuel taxes in Canada.


Public Transit Amount
Federal and Yukon tax benefit for claiming the cost of monthly public transit passes or passes of longer duration such as an annual pass for travel within Canada on public transit during the year.


Fuel Tax Exemptions for Targeted Industries
Provides for point of sale exemptions for the following off-road commercial purposes; farming, fishing, golf courses; hunting/outfitting, logging, mining, sawmills, tourism, trapping and the generation of electricity.


Public Utility Compensation
The Yukon government provides a contribution of $212,700 each year to the Yukon Energy Corporation to be flowed to retail customers. Non-government residential and general service customers’ electric bills are reduced by a ½ per cent on connection fees, demand charges and energy consumption to reflect the rebate and is identified as a “YUKON REBATE OF INCOME TAX” or “INCOME TAX REBATE” on your monthly utility bill.
